A Brief Pause in Daily Reports – And What Comes Next
Family, focus, and a stronger foundation for the work ahead.

Bill Cara
Dear Friends and Subscribers,
I want to give you a direct update on where things stand with the INSTAT Daily Combined, Playbook, and Navigator reports – and why you may not see them every day for a short while.
This is not a stop. It is a strategic pause.
What Has Been Happening
Over the past weeks, as you know, I have been rebuilding the entire production system for my daily reports. The goal has been to eliminate the AI failures and billing friction I documented in my April 16 fiduciary alert, and to create a workflow that is frictionless and meets the standards of a fiduciary advisor.
That work is basically complete. The scoring engine (DeepSeek) works. The research layer (Claude, and soon an institutionally qualified agent) works. The Python scripts that automate everything are written and tested.
But the final piece – friction-free, professional, reliable, day‑in‑day‑out publishing – requires one more person.
My Associate Alexei
Alexei is the administrator of my Ghost account and my trusted IT partner at billcara.com for the past decade since we met and started working together in Cuba. With my support, Alexei and his wife managed to find a new life in Brazil. Starting from nothing, this young couple have quickly built successful careers in IT. This year, amidst my move from Substack to Ghost, Alexei has been swamped with extraordinary life events. This month, he and his wife bought a new home, and this week held a baby shower for a soon to be birth of their first child, a baby girl, to be named "Luna." Freedom in a new country, a terrific career, a new home, and soon to have a baby they have always wanted. How wonderful is that!
I told him: Take your time. Getting it done right is what matters. Your family comes first.
Until Alexei is settled and ready to ensure my work is professionally presented, I have decided to pause daily report production. I will not publish reports that are not up to the standard you deserve.
What This Means For You
|
What You Will Not See (Temporarily) |
What You Will See |
|
Daily INSTAT Combined PDF |
Daily articles on portfolio strategy and market logic |
|
Playbook and Navigator reports |
Continued capture of CSV data (behind the scenes) |
|
Portfolio Update (weekly) |
Refinements to my nine‑portfolio framework |
I am not going silent. I am redirecting my energy.
Every day, I will write an article explaining how I am developing the portfolio system, how I interpret the smoke I see in the data, and how to professionally deploy capital. These will be short, direct, and useful.
When Will Daily Reports Resume?
As soon as Alexei is able to give the new system his full attention. That could be a few days, or it could be more than a week. I will not rush him. I will not rush the work.
When the reports return, they will be:
- Fully automated (no more copy‑paste errors)
- Professionally formatted (magazine‑quality PDFs)
- Pending trial, powered by a permanent, institutional‑grade research partner
You will get a better product because I chose to pause and build it right. Despite my age, there is never a need to rush. I invested those many 100-hour work-weeks through March and April to build something special. It will be finished.
A line from one of my favorite movies, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, "Everything will be all right in the end. If it's not all right, it is not yet the end".
What I Am Working On In The Meantime
1. The Portfolio System – Refining entry/exit rules, Ziggma corporate fundamental scores integration, and the nine portfolios (Cara 100, Rapid Growth, International Domestic, etc.).
2. Daily Articles – Each day I will publish one short piece on a portfolio topic, a market observation, or a lesson from 50 years of experience.
3. CSV Data Capture – I am still saving the daily data, so nothing is lost. When the reports restart, the record will be complete.
A Note of Thanks
You have been patient through the AI hallucinations, the platform failures, and the technical rebuild. I do not take that for granted.
The bottom line of my job is to be a financial detective – to find the smoke in price dynamics, identify the possible culprits from analyzing anomalies, and ferret out the most likely explanation based on the evidence. That detective work does not require a daily PDF. It requires clear thinking, experience, and the willingness to say, "I am pausing to get this right."
Thank you for trusting me to do that.
If you have any questions, reply to this email. I read them all.
With respect and appreciation,
Bill Cara

P.S. – Congratulations to Alexei and his wife on their new home and their new baby girl. Some things are more important than markets.
